I hope you like these vintage fabric finds as much as I do.  I feel that vintage fabrics in particular add character and an interesting aspect to any room, you have something that is unique and can't be purchased by everyone else.  These cushions will add panache to any sofa.

Cheltenham Christmas Market

Well after finding this draft from January in September!! You can probably guess that things have been a bit manic this year :)  We ended up moving into our home in March so only a month delayed.  We have now settled in and have unpacked, apart from my studio which still remains Dan's tool room!  This will soon have to change ;)

January 2014:

I've settled back into a more productive (artwise anyway) way.  I set myself the New Year resolution of doing a drawing a day, and although I haven't quite achieved this I have started doing more drawings and quick sketches.  I feel motivated and ready to take the next step.  MORE design work.  I have been collecting all my ideas this month on Pinterest ... you can check out my boards, from HomeDesign Inspiration, Baby Makes, to Small Spaces (we have a very narrow house).  We've set the date to move into our new home on the 28th of February so we have a month to make final arrangements.  We had a painting party for our birthdays where our very VERY generous friends painted the whole house for us!! I was very surprised, firstly I didn't think anyone would actually turn up.  I mean really, doesn't sound like much fun for most people (although I actually LOVE painting,) does it?  I left early as little Freya was getting tired, however we returned the next day and I was amazed.  Really, we owe all our friends big time for the work they did for us.....

I managed to keep up the drawing throughout the year and have built up a portfolio of design work ready to be turned into fabric designs.  I have also recently found my sewing machine again (I missed her!), so I do feel like I am getting my feet firmly on the ground again (16months after having my little one!!).  I had planned to return to work part time (Facilities Manager in a hospital), but this wasn't to be.  I have now come to terms with being a full time mother but am also rather excited about the possibilities which this allows me.

I have just agreed to take part in an Etsy Christmas fair in Cheltenham which I am rather excited about.  This feels like the next step in my journey to being my own boss.  More details to follow soon.

New Year New Products!

Last year I spent most of my time tucked away in my studio or on my sewing machine.  I have managed to build up quite a collection of fabrics and images waiting to be transformed into lovely prints.

I've started this new phase of development by creating one off cushions with my hand printed or salvaged vintage fabrics.  The Wild Mustard Vintage Cushion seems to be a favourite on Etsy where you can also check out my current line.  I'm also going to be promoting my Royal Diamond Jubilee Velvet Cushion very soon in preparation for the Royal event!

My next aim is to complete a custom order for some cushions then I'm going to be moving onto a Tea Towel Range and Lamp Shades!  I'm quite excited about the Lampshades.  I'm visualising over sized floor standing lamp bases with possibly pom pom trims (I used pom poms on my cushions and LOVE them).

I've been carrying out a little bit of Lamp Shade research and really like these ones ...

This one is from Heals:  Black and Gold Lampshade Large.  I like the contrasting lining on it.

This lamp shade is available from House to Home:  It's a Laura Ashley design.  I really like the size of the shade compared to the bed side table.   I also like the bright pink colour, it really stands out next to the dark wood and pale bedside table.

*NEW* Set of 3 Lavendar Bags - Available on my Etsy Shop

Now available on my Etsy shop are my hand made Lavendar Bags, sold in a set of three these would make an ideal gift for relaxing after the rush of Christmas.

Lavendar bags provide a lovely yet eco-friendly way to perfume your linens or lingerie drawer. A perfect gift for an earth conscious friend. You could also hang them on a door handle so that the aroma will waft with you when you walk past! ... Lavendar has been used as a remedy for a range of ailments from insomnia and anxiety to depression and fatigue for centuries. Research has confirmed that lavender produces slight calming, soothing, and sedative effects when its scent is inhaled.

These generously filled lavender triangles are made of a mixture of cotton poplin and satin. The set will contain a mixture of designs. They will be nicely packaged in brown paper to keep the scent nice and fresh.

New Cards

Purple Feathers 2 (Top image)

Purple feathers 2 is a printed card design from a series that I created last summer when I was taking part in an event in Scotland 'Spring Fling' 08. I was showing my work in this wonderful location, in a big old house that had peacocks wondering around the grounds. The card has hand drawn glittery imagery on top to add extra glitz to the card.

There are two others in the series available to buy from my online Etsy shop.
